Why do people insist to wait for someone who has been gone almost a year? Life happens, and it doesn't always lead back around. Yes Ash493 I basically agree with you, but I don't think that it would be 'very disrespectable' if other hackers would finish the game. I mean we all respect Metapod for the HUGE quantitative of things which he's done in order to create this wonderfull hack, but it would be reasonable if other people want to complete the 'Work of the Master' just as a tribute to him and to the fun that he made us prove. Even the Renaissance's artists took inspiration from the ancient greek ones, but it didn't mean that they had copied them or that they didn't respect them.

Well the way i see it is all u can do is to raise pikachu past level 30 and try your best if possible cuz as stated in the anime ash did not evolve pikachu at all Irrelevant. And also kind of shows where the hack fails.

The hack gives us a choice to follow the anime completely or not. We can evolve Pikachu, we can evolve and keep Bulbasuar and Squirtle. We can keep Butterfree around and Primeape. We can catch all the wild pokemon we come across.

We can use a completely different team than Ash used etc. The game offers us the ability to do some things differently than what was seen in the anime. Which is good. Where the hack fails is that it does not do this more often.

I completely wrecked Brockk the first time I fought him and yet it still acted as if I lost. I obliterated Hitmochan when he attacked me yet the game acted as If I lost. It was those forced roadblocks that made the hack fail a bit. It could have been so much more than just a hack that was the anime in video game form.

Sadly it did try a bit, but ultimately failed. And gave us too much freedom while enforcing too many road blocks.

@Strikes: Don't you think that you are a bit too strict with the game? I mean, yes sometimes the hack enforces you to follow a certain path that is based on the anime, but only because this IS an hack inspired by the anime; I think that there is a good balance between the freedom of the player and the events of the tv show; any other modification would ruin the atmosphere of Ash's journey. However, if it wants to be 100% accurate to the anime then it should not allow us to screw with any part of the flow, aside from capturing wild pokemon. Give Takeshi level 100 Onix so you simply couldn't beat it? That's kinda over the top, don't you think? Think about it; if the game didn't make you lost the first time against Brock you wouldn't have done the event of the Electric Ball and so Brock's father wouldn't re-join his family in order to allows to his son to start his journey; therefore you wouldn't respect the anime story-line.

Same thing against Sabrina, if you didn't lost the first time, you wouldn't go to Lavender and do the Poke Tower's event There are other ways to do it. Such as making Onix a really high level for example.

Given the amount of posts lately that are disregarding my warning against talking about Metapod and complaining that the hack isn't finished, it's in the interest of the thread that I just close it now. I would suggest putting Pokemon on the teams of trainers you are supposed to lose to at level 100, with their stats all at 999, so that way, it is obvious to the player that they are to lose that particular battle, and it makes more sense storyline wise, rather than creating this awkward situation of having a trainer get beaten into the ground, but then having said trainer gloat about their 'victory'. Also, please consider making sequel hacks for the Johto and Hoenn regions as well (although if you could fit Johto in this hack, that would be great!).

Of course, if you wanted to go even further and do the regions after Hoenn, that would be perfectly fine with me;). I found a bug where LT. Surge`s sprite is the female trainer on a bike sprite. I will upload a image once I eventually post 15 times and have the ability to do so. Hmm, that happened to me when I beta tested it. I deleted the sprite and re-added so hopefully it won't do it again. I have no idea why that is happening.

I can`t get the mission with the hipnotized children at the top of the mansion. I have talked to everyone and became a member of the pokemon fan club but when I enter the building where the other members give you a drowsee to unhipnotize the children the room is empty When I got to the snorlax blocking the dam event I can`t do it.

If I try to cut the trees it tells me I can`t swim and if I talk to Snorlax nothing happens I'm not sure how the sprites got deleted from that map. I re-added them.

Did you speak to the old man on the rock again after speaking to Snorlax? He is supposed to give you the Poke Flute to wake up Snorlax.

He is supposed to give you the Poke Flute to wake up Snorlax. I tried choping the trees behind him (it told me the current is to strong to swim) I tried talking to Snorlax (Couldn`t even interact with him) I tried talking to the old man 14 times Also in the event where you fight several trainers with Primeape and then lose him, if you press a behind the pc another pc will pop up SUGGESTION: why does team rocket only double battle you once? Why not have it to where they always double battle you or at least make it a double battle more often? I suggest this because I personally find it strange that team rocket comes up with a great idea to bombard Ash with both of there pokemon at once and then abandon the idea for the rest of (Kanto, have not played orange islands so I don`t know if they double battle you at all in that saga of the game) and think it would be cool to have more 2v2 matches in the game. (win or lose?), etc. Cause i cant go back and watch every episode:$ Thanks in advance! Here are some tips: never evolve pikachu, bulbasaur, or squirtle. In the veridian forest the Brock battle, catch caterpie, and MAKE SURE TO CATCH PIGIOTO when you find him he is a one time only catch.

In the same forest evolve caterpie into a metapod and don't evolve him again until after you leave the forest, squirtle is unskipable and charmander is unmissable but still skip able, but bulbasaur is hidden in a long stretch of grass on your way down from cerulean.( if you see charmander and don't have bulbasaur, GO BACK) evolve charmander during the fight with the magician that hypnotises you and evolve chareleon during the arodactile fight with the mining event ( right after the jiggleypuff event). You can't win to Brock on your first try ( even if you win you will still lose, trust me) besides that every other match you should win and if you are supposed to lose then you get a alternate event but still get the same outcome.( but in the grass type gym battle if you lose you get a thunderstone, but remember not to evolve pikachu) to do the jiggleypuff event buy some berry juice from the house near the lady you battle to help her evolve her Paris) when you see a hord of butterfree you need to give your butterfree a scarf (I think red) and set it free. When you fight a evolved Mankey (forgot name) catch it. When you are givin a invite to a battle with the best pokemon trainer ever (mewtwo movie event) and the ship won't sail because of the storm.

Use your raft to surf there. In the Snorlax event chop the trees behind him and talk to Snorlax, then talk to the old man on the rock.

If you want to stay cannon give away your evolved mankey(still can't remember name) when you are asked to after winning the fighting tournament with him, lose to Richie( if you don't you will continue on and eventually fight the elite four and champion (not Gary sadly). Download Pokemon AshGray Ips 3. (If you already have Lunar Ips or any other Ips patcher skip this step) Download Lunar Ips 4. If you get a white screen rinse and repeat (Delete and Redownload the Rom and Ips). For White Screen: You are using wrong VBA save type. It needs to be 128kB. Or download VBA-M.

Just follow Ash's team from anime and you won't miss anything. I've tried to patch this games with Lunar IPS and VBA. None of them work. I also downloaded ceveral different kind of roms. Like from coolroms and some Firered 1.0 roms from different locations but still the patching wont work. Lunar IPS send some kind of error message about bad IPS-file and VBA doesn't say anything but it only shows a white screen after I've loaded the rom. I've patched dozens of roms so this can't be my fault.

You are one of few people who managed to get it to work and even finished it.:D Are you going to add the Johto, Hoenn/Battle Frontier, Sinnoh, Unova/Decolora Island, & Kalos arcs into your game? 1) It WON'T fit into one ROM 2) ALL Pokemon WON'T fit into one ROM 3) This hack was made at the same time as Johto Adventures that was abandoned many times.

But the point is. Meta planned that this hack will contain only Indigo League and Orange Isle while the Johto will be done in Johto Adventures. So not in this ROM but in new one maybe.

As you can see. This guy here managed to get it to work with FR 1.0. So your FR 1.0 might not be 1.0 at all. I managed to get it to work by patching it to a pre-patched AshGray 3.6.1 (which was from the Fire Red ROM I was getting the error from, so I don't know what's up with that) The game glitched out at Tangelo Island and Team Rocket kept saying their post-blimp dialogue over and over, creating an infinite loop, however I did explore the new maps using EliteMap and AdvanceMap, and I put together a large map made up of all the map areas combined, and I must say that it matches the official layout of the Orange Islands to a tee.

I hope you will find some way to transport Ash to the northern section of the Orange Islands, so any new maps won't overlap areas covered by the existing ones. (if that makes any sense.). Can someone tell me the exact filename of a working one? Did you happen to set the save type to 128K? Some hacks that have white screen issues when they are not set at the correct save type and don't have the correct rom at all. I am happy to see that beta 4 is out but I have encountered a huge glitch. I got to Valencia Island and got the GS ball. While I was heading out of Ivy's lab, Team Rocket dragged me and Misty back on the plane and that those events happened. Everything was going smoothly until the Blimp crashed.

There must be an error in the script because as soon as Misty leaves, and I tried this a bunch of times to make sure it was an error in the script, Ash is either frozen and you can't control anything but the 'help system' found on the firered/leafgreen games and all hacks that use firered/leafgreen as a base, or the script just malfunctions and gets all glitchy, or you obtain an Ultra ball and Ash is frozen. So I guess I has something to do with that. I tried losing to Lorelei and then I was able to start the Pallet Party Panic event. So I guess I would be possible then to win the blimp ride. Make a backup for it and play with it. In this way you can catch both events where you beated the league or lost to Richie and trigger the Pallet Party Panic event.

I just got the 4.1 patch and when I try to go into the pokecenter on Valencia Island my screen goes black and freezes, so I just bypass that and then after I leave Valencia and the blimp crashes on the island, I go into the building after that couple comes out and the game freezes. Does anyone else have this problem? Or anyone know how to fix it? I ran into this exact problem. I blackscreened at the pokecenter on the Island several times.

Backup your save files, download latest beta, patch it and name it just like your save state. There should not be any problems then. I lost to Ritchie the first time I battled him, now I am told I have to wait until I can enter again.

What events do I have to complete before I am able to redo the league? Sorry if this has been asked before, but I searched and couldn't find anyone with a similar problem. Wow congrats on releasing a new beta! I'm trying out this hack again cuz its been a long time since I played it and to see how the new beta is. But I'm stuck at the moment. I completed every event up to the Vermilion Gym. In the gym, I fought both trainers - and I returned to the Pokemon Center to heal my Pokemon (damn that Electabuzz) But when I returned to the Gym, Lt Surge was gone:(. I don't know how to bring him back.

And I can't seem to move on with the storyline since the next episode involves S.S Anne. I really want to continue.

Hey, guys, sorry for the bugs! Surge bug was from deleting the old OW and adding another one. It then ended up having the same OW # as the second trainer, making it invisible since they conflicted. I also fixed the glitch where the game freezes when the blimp crashes the second time. I had fixed that before, but it messed up again, idk why. Here's the link to the new beta: Pokemon AshGray 4.2 (I'm not sure if the other bugs mentioned are a problem in the beta (I haven't had any problems with Pokemon Centers in Orange Islands while beta testing, for instance) so I'm not looking into them right now, but keep reporting any issues and the ones that keep coming up I will look into and try to fix.

So as I went back thinking I missed something, the game crashed as I went back through the diglett cave, and I had to restart because the save file became corrupted. Anyone know a good emulator witch can provide me perhaps a couple of different save states? Just to ensure that I don't end up loosing everything.

Out of curiosity, what emulator do you use? VBA is probably the best/most common GBA emulator for PC/MAC, and it allows up to 10 save states. I don't remember.

I just went to the site to play the pokemon ashgray version. And it was already sort of an emulator. I'm not really sure where to download the game. I couldn't really figure out where to download it as it seemed like I had to just play it connected to some sort of browser.

Weird thingy. Don't trust these sites. They are easy way how to play it without patching but not really the best way how to make it work. How do you trigger the Make Room For Gloom event? There shouldn't be anything blocking you from doing it. You of course need Bulbasaur, though. Where to go after the movie event?

Teleport to Pallet by using the system. Ok, I have all gym badges, and I've fought Mr. Mine on the way back to pallet town, I talked to Oak, and ash's mom.

But when I talk to ash's mom, she doesn't tell me I need to go see Oak, and officer jenny is blocking my path to indigo plateau. What do I need to do?

Have you done every event preceding it? I also had the problem of game freezing when I entered the old lady's place(with patch 4.2) but I used the patch version 4.0(game doesn't freeze) to fix it. After I pass the old lady I again patched the latest release 4.2 and played the game smoothly.

However, there is one problem. I cannot use the surf when I enter the small land areas in water with the fishing trainers. Here is the image showing my error:- BTW, nice and the best hack ever. It's been a long time since I played it now. It kind of feel a bit strange some of the points here.

As for Sabrina, Brock and Lt. Surge battles. For Sabrina and Brock, they think you lost if no matter if you beat them or not. Surge knows it if you defeat him on first try.

However, if you win against Lt. Surge on first try, you won't aquire the thunderstone, witch is kind of important as Ash actually keep this as a token. You never get it without losing. So it sort of feels like if you want to trigger the same events, and get things right, you actually need to lose some battles. Found another thing that I think should be improven too. Like from episode 8 event.

The guy with Sandshrew. Honestly, I think Sandshrew have waaaay too low level.

It should have at least level 50 or something. That's because his Sanshrew is very well trained and skilled. Even though the anime doesn't have levels, it should have a level that would be very high and near impossible to beat even if you try to use the weaknesses against it. You should not have to lose on purpose. You should be able to do your best, but be overpowered by the superstrong Sandshrew.

Even Pidgeotto shouldn't stand a chance against it.
